The core of the band got together whilst attending The King Edward grammar school in Kings Lynn. "Amplifiers were the size of radio’s in those day’s" recalls Tony.  "We would rehearse round each others house’s" he continued and remembers the group playing their first gigs at the now demolished St Faiths Church youth club in Gaywood

 

The groups name was originally thought up to include Max’s sister Helen on piano christening the band Helen Of Troy & The Trojans, but she subsequently never joined and then Max himself soon dropped out

 

Another early change in line-up saw drummer Neville leave to get married. The demise of the Heacham based group The Strangers came to the rescue with Williamson coming in on drums and lead vocalist Kevin Dagg assuming the identity of Larry Bond and becoming the groups frontman

 

In June 64 the group came join first in a Wisbech, Fenland beat competition. Judged by top DJ Pete Murray the boys shared the top prize of £25 with the Torino’s from [area required]

 

The band were reduced to a quartet after the departure of guitarist Rodney Shirley [date required]

 

In January 1965 the boys were announced as ambassordors to the Oxfam cause coming second in their Beat Time competition and annoucing that once a month they would be donating their performance fee to the Oxfam cause

 

The group took part in the Dereham Mercury Beat Contest in 1965 at the Sunshine Rooms in Dereham on the 25th May
