"In the 1970s Bobby and I were playing as a duo in folk clubs, mainly in the North East where we lived for much of that decade, and when we moved to Norwich in 1980 we joined No Name Street Theatre and created a band (Savoy Alloy Boys) for their productions with Nick Johns (jazz sax and clarinet, still playing) and Lee Westall  (drums, who was later in the Lost Garden Band)."
